The history of Honda Motors can be traced back to the late 1940s. Soichiro Honda (Honda) established Honda Motor Co., Ltd., on September 24, 1948, in Itaya-cho, Hamamatsu, Japan, with a capital of ¥1 million. The company started with producing auxiliary engines for bicycles. In October 1949, Takeo Fujisawa (Fujisawa), who became Honda’s partner in the company, came aboard as managing director.
